The only European museum devoted to contemporary Aboriginal art from Australia.
The AAMU dazzles visitors with impressive art from the other side of the world.
Located in the very heart of Utrecht and near the Dom tower since 2001, this museum is unparalleled in that it is the only place in Europe where visitors can learn about magnificent works of art by the most important Aboriginal artists. In changing exhibitions, the AAMU provides a surprising view of various trends, themes and developments in this versatile type of art, often combined with other contemporary visual art. The works of art on display include paintings, sculptures, bark paintings, installations, photography and video presentations.
The museum also has a shop with beautiful books of art and wonderful presents, and a museum café with an outdoor café. Book a tour or a didgeridoo workshop and learn to play this typical Aboriginal musical instrument. The museum gallery has certified works of art available for sale.
Children can participate in activities such as a free narrative quest, available at the counter.
Every Sunday afternoon at 3.30 pm, there is an open tour (English upon request) for € 3 p.p.
